The Michigan Combined Application Project Food Assistance for SSI recipients.

How can I get help paying for food? You qualify if you:

  • Receive full Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Are a Michigan Resident
  • Are not currently receiving Food Assistance Program benefits (Also known as FAP, BRIDGE CARD, SNAP or Food Stamps)
  • Meet the SSA definition of independent living.

How do I apply?

Currently The State of Michigan is mailing outreach applications to those who pre-qualify by standard mail.

Please read the application carefully.

Page two is yours to keep and it may answer most of the questions you may have about applying for food benefits from assistance with MiCAP.

Benefits take up to 30 business days to process.

If you have questions you may call the MiCAP phone number 1-877-416-4227.

Phone hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. No holidays and weekends.
